A Big Few Days of British Sailing...
The end of this week provides a great opportunity to watch some British sailors in action. Sometime over the next few days Pip Hare will complete the Vendee Globe. She has posted lots of short clips on YouTube which give you a feel for both the mental and physical challenges of this single handed non-stop race around the world. Pip will be the first British sailor home in 19th place and the second lady past the post. The Vendee channel on YouTube has been streaming each competitor's return to Les Sables d'Olonne so keep an eye out for her finish and first steps on dry land.
At the weekend Team Ineos UK will compete against Luna Rossa in the finals of the Prada cup. The races are from 2 a.m. in the morning so you may wish to watch the full race re-runs on YouTube instead! They are usually loaded and ready to view by 8 in the morning - just keep away from social media if you don't want to see the result beforehand. There is action on Saturday and Sunday morning provided the wind shows up. The winner of the Prada Cup then goes onto challenge Team New Zealand for the Americas Cup in March. The racing between the Italians and the British has been very close to date so well worth a watch.
Finally, a reminder that the RYA Dinghy show is on 27 and 28 Feb and is Virtual so you don't even have to move from your chair to attend. Make sure you register to attend on the RYA website to access the presentations and exhibitors.
We are expecting the Government to announce the way out of lock down on 22nd Feb at which point we hope that we will have some idea as to when we may be able to open the club again. We will update you as soon as we know more.
