For those of you that have recently turned up to do rescue you may have noticed a few changes in the garage!! such as it is tidy and the powerboats are ready to use.....
This does not happening by chance; rather Dan Earthquake came forward and kindly volunteered to support Howard and Brad in trying to maintain the clubs equipment in good order.
Weekly Dan compiles a detailed report for the main committee which shows the issues he finds and what he has done to rectify. This is a thankless task and one that must be recognised by us all. So its with big thanks we solute Dan for his efforts.
Going forward I did want to share though some of the surprising things that have come to light. Such as :- damage fuel line, keys and marks left in boat, power on, sailing gear left in boat along with rubbish etc.
Firstly when you take out a rescue boat the crews must ensure that it is always checked over beforehand for fuel, kill cords and that it works!!!
EQUALLY important::::: once you have finished please ensure at the end of the day that
1. You turn off all power remove keys
2. Remove buoys & flags and any gear/rubbish
3. Empty water
4. REPORT ANY DAMANGE.... this is key please so that action can be taken.
IF it’s an engine fault can you place the "OUT OF ACTION" sign on the engine so that the next day it can be looked at! Also TELL either Dan, Howard or Brad
Once again PLEASE take responsibility for looking after our powerboats so that engine props and the general gear last as long as it can, it will save us money... and help keep your membership fee’s down.
Kind regards
John
